Rudding Park Spa
Rudding Park Hotel is an oasis of serenity in the heart of Yorkshire, ranked as the best spa hotel in the UK (2017 Sunday Times Best Places to Stay).
Opened earlier this year just outside the town of Harrogate, the privately owned spa is an impressive build over three levels.
Walking in from the car park at ground level, the light and spacious reception and lifestyle shop make for a welcoming entrance.
The indoor pool can be glimpsed by visitors to Horto Café. The waters are from Rudding Parks’ own borehole.
Horto Café offers contemporary fine dining and is open to the public. Guests to the spa can use Horto during the day whilst robed till 5.30pm. There is a seamless transition from spa to café and terrace (shown below) which wraps around the indoor pool – (there’s plenty of loungers for sunbathing!)
Inside the spa, there is everything one could wish for; the attention to detail shown in each zone is exceptional. As well as the expected treatment rooms, mani/pedicure bar and hair salon, there are four mind and sense zones (available to all guests booking treatments).
Upstairs is the Roof Top Spa with indoor-outdoor infinity edge hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, foot spas (and more). For me, the pièce de résistance is the south-facing Spa Garden.
This garden is a thing of beauty. Created by Matthew Wilson, colours used extend the seasons, there’s nothing ‘standard’ or ‘token gesture’ here; to relax among the carefully-planned use of plants, trees and foliage will, I’m sure, delight garden lovers.
The spa bath, sun deck, sauna cabin and shower are all anyone would need for a complete day basking in the Yorkshire warmth. The hotel can be seen in the distance; the unwavering commitment to quarrying the same stone for the spa-build as the hotel was every bit worth it! Quality exudes.
The dedication to world-class excellence, exceptional design and outstanding creativity at Rudding Park Spa is welcomed in Yorkshire. It only takes one to raise the standard to a whole other level, and owners Mr & Mrs. Mackaness have done just that!
